Hi, Colleen, I know what you mean about AVANELLE! It is one of my favorites
also and I keep it in the bed of my older and favorite ones because each
time I cull thru trying to decide what I can give up to make space, that
always holds its own! AVANELLE (note the spelling change - hope you don't
mind - I'm only a rough copy typist, which means typos - , because it didn't
look right to me, I went to my file cards and then the R & I '79 book to
check. ) Bill Jones introduced this lovely IB white in '77, so it really has
"staying power" to still be in my garden I'm not sure, but I THINK he was
on the American iris tour to Australia/NZ in the early 70s I was on with
my oldest granddaughter - then 13 yrs old - We got our passports, visas,
packed and left on 3 days' notice. That was a wonderful trip - one I would
like to make again! - She now has children older than she was then - it's
unbelievable!
I always have trouble trying to orient myself with your seasons. I think
this is your Spring?! (I gather it is since we were there about
mid-Oct.) - not the season to know whether some irises are RE-blooming?
