Indeed you are preaching to the choir, Doris.  Although there are far too 
many thistles around the farm for me to make any attempt to wipe them all 
out, I sure as HECK can keep them under control in my gardens!  I don't 
allow thistles right around the yard to flower, and as much as I HATE 
using RoundUp, I do make an exception for the thistles.  It's not a quick 
kill, but at least it gets them in the end.

I am still curious about whether anyone else has noticed the apparently 
toxic effect Canada thistles have on bearded irises.  Anybody?
