A friend bought SUPERSTITION from Home Depot a few years back. Ended up being ELEANOR ROOSEVELT or a look-alike.
Here in Phoenix, the irises are on sale also for $1.99 . To that you can add the cost of fertilizer, water, time and energy to grow the darn thing only to have it bloom as something else.
I would much rather stick with a reliable commercial iris garden even though the price of the same rhizome might be twice as much. First of all, you get a fresher plant, not a dried up prune like in the store. Secondly, if your iris comes mislabeled, a reliable iris garden will fix the error when contacted. Lastly, in the past there has been discussion where it was mentioned that these in the store may in fact just be seedlings out of what is being sold, rather than the original variety. One more thing, your commercial iris garden order helps the hybridizer who owns it continue on improving our favorite flower for our enjoyment. So it is a symbiotic relationship.
The moral of this story...don't be tempted by cheap store rhizomes.... Support your hobby!

Was at Lowes ( garden and home improvement store) and they got their TB's
in.
Pictures don't match names as usual. About 18 different ones. Almost too
late to plant here.
One thing different was some wild flowers in small packages. Bluebells,
Trillium ect. And Crestata packed in peat, one rhizome per package. First
time I have ever seen that. $1.99 each.
Bought the part to fix john and left with no iris.
