I do this.  I have fat birds this year.  The ones I like best, though,
aren't especially attracted to the feeders.  Mockingbirds, Scissor Tails,
wrens and Eastern bluebirds don't utilize the seed feeders.  The dogs chase
them away some too.  Though I'm sure wrens would nest in them if they could
get inside!   The feeders will be more popular this winter.
