I asked about it at the winter potluck last year, & Phil Williams said
it did well (tho I don't remember seeing it at his place). I think
somebody else in this region said it didn't do well. It's new for me
this year. This isn't what I'd call cold country (especially compared
to Ellen!), but certainly most cultivars that thrive for you, don't
here, and vice versa, so we'll see.
Of all the top award winning irises we've discussed over the years,
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN seems to be the one that does well everywhere. I
will say that I think I finally managed to do it serious damage by
leaving it undivided in a mixed bed that is now a rampant mass of weeds.
<Ring Around Rosie. I'll have to wait two years to see what its babies
look like. Introduced in 2000, it has just won the AM award. I can't
guess what it would do in a cold country, but if it does well, it's a
Dykes candidate for sure. Francelle Edwards Glendale, AZ Zone
