REB: Rebloom Defined ??? (and 'also' Repeat Bloom)

Laurie quoted:

>>> Beardless varieties which rebloom are called *Repeaters*.
They produce additional bloom stalks from old growth. <<<

And then wrote:

>>> This is fascinating! I had no idea the beardless irises
rebloomed from
old growth! Does this mean *each individual rhizome* can both
spring
bloom and repeat bloom? <<<

No. Repeat bloom in the beardless classes (specifically
Siberians) does not include bloom out of season as in remontancy
tendency. They are called 'repeaters' because they do have a
short period of presumed end of bloom for the season (usually 5
to 14 days) and then they start up again. This is more and more
common and greatly extends the 'normal' bloom season.

If anyone has Siberians blooming in the late summer or fall,
please let the Siberian Society know. As Editor of 'The Siberian
Iris', I would put your posy on the cover...well, maybe the back
cover. :-)
