HYB: CULT: Best Bet

I got BEST BET so long ago it isn't even in the 'corn rows', but is in
an earlier bed that has only a few survivors. Jeff, I think it's from
one of those early 'survivor' trades we made. (Jeff and I learned after
a couple of trades that <most> of the best survivors in our respective
difficult locations were <not> good survivors in <both> locations).

I had long since assumed she was dead, but last year, an unusual year
with no severe late winter/early spring freezes, she not only bloomed,
but had fertile pollen! Most of the seedlings from the two successful
crosses have been <very> weak, but there are a few coming along.

Reading from the archives, I forgot yesterday was a new month & am now
almost 100 messages behind! Yikes, for a group that had nothing to say
a month ago, we seem to have come to life again.
