Re: ADM: Club Gardens/Trial Gardens

Now we are talking! I knew my persistance would pay off.

I guess some just need a poking and prodding. Not that you haven't been supportive so far Robert.

Let's see if we can't get others to ante up and join the bandwagon. with a more positive attitude. Collective effort is the key I think. Some have seen it as too much individual work I think.

In our discussion of trial gardens, we have talked about different models without much clarification. One might be a garden maintained by a club. I know of several such gardens already in existence around the country. They are not trial gardens because they do not report to anyone on growth. They are simply for displaying Iris to the public. I wonder how many of these gardens there really are and if after a show or as part of another activity several people could fill out report forms on say 3 or 4 Iris. If 12 people did this in a garden you could have 30-40 Iris examined. If these were AM winners and data was collected from a couple of dozen gardens around the country a picture of regional/climatic performance might develop. What do you think?
