COMP: request re: your posts

Linda, I too find these postings difficult, especially since I do want to
read them. I gave up on scrolling, so I've taken to highlighting the one or
two very long lines, hit "copy" and pull up a "notepad" blank window,
"paste," then read in ease.

Just to make this convenient, I pulled an icon shortcut link into my
"taskbar" line--the one to the right of "Start" on Windows. All I have to
do is click on the little icon, paste, and read. Simple solution.

I did hear about, then by experimenting found, that in the "Format"
pull-down menu of either the message form brought up by clicking on the
"Reply to: [list]" or in Outlook Express, the choice between "Plain Text"
and "Rich Text {HTML}" if set to the "Rich Text" option, the lines do tend
to run on at much greater length than if "Plain Text" is selected.

The only advantage ever offered by the "Rich Text {HTML}" option is that
photos can be imbedded in the body of a text for most other lists that do
allow photos. On this list, the option is a waste of resources--and makes
messages merely difficult to read. I read them anyway with one addition
step--the copy to notepad.

Other browsers may have a similar feature. I no longer use Netscape
Navigator, even though I do have a fairly recent version on file, just not
installed at the moment. IE seemed to work better for my needs. If the
messages originate from Netscape, I have no idea how the posters might alter
their options.
