Re: OT-HUMOR: bald, hairy, molligrubs (was CULT: negativity

it sounded fishy to me...

Molligrubs...I always heard them referred to as garden gremlins

when there is an infestation of molligrubs, is the whole of the group then
called Polligrubs?

Got an offlist note and it appears that we silly people are confusing
the heck out of some members of the group.

The original post about bald rhizomes was a serious question, which
  Patrick has now answered.

Griff was making a joke about human baldness - hairy becomes bald
becomes white (assuming there's anything left!).

Molligrubs is not an insect pest, it's a silly, made up term somebody
shared with us here several years ago for the way some unhappy rhizomes
behave - they just sort of fade away, either beginning as soon as
planted, not growing roots or producing new green growth, eventually
drying up to an empty shell. Or sometimes it takes a few years, each
year's increase becoming smaller and smaller until there is nothing
  left.

I think a molli must be a real fish of some sort, but I'm not prepared
to completely believe anything in that thread.<g>

  Apologies for the confusion...
