Laurie, what you're describing sounds more like Scorch to me. Leaves slowly
turn brown, rhizomes is firm, but all the roots are dead. I gather from what
Patrick has said that the problem he describes is an increase off a perfectly
good rhizome, but the increase has no roots at all, not just dead ones.

P.S. And, Ellen, it's cold enough in Iowa in January without going to New
Hampshire to find more. The only virtue would be that NH mountains are
probably more beautiful than the barren fields of Iowa at that time of year.
