Back in August, Linda asked for environmentally-friendly ideas to keep bugs
off the pollen.
I have a bunch of bags I made of fine nylon net (it's cheap!) that I use
mostly to keep bugs off my exhibition dahlias. But this time of year I let
the bugs have the dahlias to pollinate as they see fit, so I can use the bags
to cover iris blooms instead. Keeps all but the tiniest bugs out, but
occasionally a grasshopper will eat right through the net.
Use too many, though, and you'll get some strange looks from people driving
past.
