HYB: Selecting seedlings

I've found a new way to dump borderline good enough seedlings.

This is the busiest month in my garden, the month to dig, divide, wash,
dip, dry and store iris rhizomes, the month to add fertilizer and
compost to the beds and till it in, rake up the rows, and then replant
them. As I stand out there in the heat digging clumps of selected
seedlings with the sweat pouring off my brow, eyes, ears and nose, I
ask, "Does this thing really have the potential to make all this work
worthwhile?" More than one have gone into the garbage after being asked
this question.
