For some time I have been wondering why we have
different dues for individual memberships and for
Family memberships. It seems to me this just
complicates things. When goes the the AIS website you
see twice as many choices as is necessary. If all we
had was a membership perhousehold it would reduce the
number of buttons to choose from.
I find this idea repellent. It can only lead to one vote per household on
all AIS voting matters. I am for one vote for each person. I left TBIS because
the voting system was contrary to this very fundamental democratic principle,
and I'll leave AIS in the blink of an eye and never look back if something
similar comes to pass.
I am deeply suspicious of all the notions floating around these days
regarding keeping things simple. It sounds like dumbing down to me. AIS needs to
encourage an active, participatory membership. AIS members should understand
that they each have a vote, even, and especially, the children, and everyone
should be encouraged to use it.
