I don't have any seedlings from VIOLET MIRACLE x plicata- but I did get a few last year from luminatas.  There was one that appeared to be a luminata plicata.  That would be explained by getting the plicata gene from VM, and I think would say that VM likely has 2 alleles in the plicata series.  There is certainly a lot of plicata in its background, and I have the hunch that there may be a glaciata or luminata allele in the mix.  Because of Suky, you have to suppose that Violet Miracle may carry whatever does make the zonal pattern.  Which is why I used it in the luminata crosses in the first place.  
   
  Another reddish seedling from the HIGH MASTER x VM cross has the wire rim, very hafty.
  Nothing that looked zonal, but then, there were very few that bloomed, and they may all be gone in any event as the early bloomers were hit the hardest.
   
  The form was very narrow on all of the VM seedlings- red beards were the only surprise from them.  I did not continue making VM crosses, but have moved to ROSALIE FIGGE X luminatas to see what might pop up here.  But as everyone knows it takes GREAT persistence to get RF to set pods, it may not be worth the effort.  Hopefully this next spring will tell.
