Robin and Rita,
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I found this most helpful.
I knew it was very complicated, and I'm sure reading 41 pages of legal
jargon (according to Bob Plank) would blow my mind. But I'm just trying to
understand the system. I'm so new at this, the only way I know to learn is
ask? Bob says he has read it a few years back. He was also very helpful in
clarifying some things.
It's amazing how many different angles there are to what I thought was a yes
or no answer as to if it was feasible to at least have a card naming the
company etc. And a general cover letter.
Who to contact if Michelle was out of country or something. I thought maybe
each region had their on rep or something.

Hi Linda,
At least with respect to having one letter fits all, I do not think the
insurance company would provide such a document as they must keep track of
all
of the entities that are named as additional insureds for specific dates and
locations. There are fairly complex legal issues regarding additional
insureds since the parties seeking protection have significant assets at
stake. Most malls require a document which expressly states that they are
additional insureds for that date in order to protect themselves. They
would
not accept a generic letter. You can hardly blame them when you see the
things that people will sue over. I do understand your frustration though,
it
would certainly be easier to have a copy on file.
Someone at AIS surely has a copy of the policy. Tough reading I suspect.
And
the problem with policies is that they are all subject to states laws and
court rulings which may supersede the language. Commercial policy
interpretation can be very interesting though- but then I have been accused
of
having a twisted mind : )
Not sure this is all that helpful, but may give a little insight into the
red
tape.
