What graph are you referring to?
Utah model gives best chilling from 37-48 F 40F is nicely in middle of
this range.

So far, seeds have started sprouting in 7 of 12 pods that went in the
fridge in early July. Seeds were fresh, not dried or soaked.
Fridge temperature (45oF, more or less) has been more or less at
optimum
(according to the chart posted to the photos group) for shortest time
in
the fridge to accomplish required chilling.
Two months in the fridge at "optimum" temperature has been enough for
only about half the crosses.
Two IMM crosses have no sprouts so far (typical for IMM); two HELEN
COLLINGWOOD crosses have no sprouts (don't know if this is typical).
The 5th unsprouted cross is a mix of HARVEST OF MEMORIES, PINAFORE
PINK,
GOLDEN IMMORTAL, & RIO.
Those that have sprouted come from various mixtures of HoM, DOCTOR
ALAN,
RENOWN, MATRIX, CSONG, GOLDEN APPLE, CRYSTAL GLITTERS, and an F1 from
IMM (crossed with AMITY ESTATE)
Chuck, with your fridge at 40oF, your two months of chilling was
actually equivalent to only one month at optimal temperature, according
to the graph.
