In the early days of our club, we made the big mistake of thinking we should have our sales where the most people would be - random cross section of shopping public does not result in good sale!
1) have sale in same location/time each year. builds repeat customer base2) sell locally grown rhizomes so survival odds will be above average & will get repeat customers plus good word of mouth
3) advertise! Getting the word out has proven to be the most important component. We have had a hard time getting the Knoxville paper to run an article about irises at sale time, but combining with the local University garden sale festival (Bloomsday) gets free coverage.
I especially like your idea of adding sale iris photos to the website before the sale.
