While we're on the subject of the tangerine factor . . .
How many seedlings would I have to produce, theoretically, to pull the
tangerine beard back out of some of my children? I'm trying to create
tangerine bearded rebloomers for my zone.
I've many seedlings that are crosses between my rebloomers and things
like CHINESE NEW YEAR, DECEDANCE, DRINKS AT SUNSET, etc.. Many
children and grandchildren from ROMANTIC EVENING. In most cases, the
seedlings do not have red beards.
How many generations will it take?

A good experiment to do.B

But, every blue bearded pink I've looked at has tangerine at base of
beard, deep in throat. A lot of pinks with white beard also have the
tangerine only show in base of beard, so many of the pinks with blue
beards proably have the blue on a pale white section of beard. Blue
plus pink would likely produce a bronzy beard.B

Can an iris have four doses of tangerine factor and <not> have anyB
red/pink in the beard?B
B
For example, in the blue bearded pinks, is the
re red pigment in theB
beard that is hidden by blue pigment? Or can there be four doses ofB
tangerine factor but no lycopene in the beard?B
B
In other words, soaked in hot water to remove water soluble pigment, isB
there always some lycopene visible?B
B
I feel like I ought to know this already, that it's already beenB
discussed - apologies for going over it again.B
