Linda, I give each year a "series" number. This year's seed are Series 26. 2610 is the tenth "harvested" cross of the year 2011. The first reselect will become 2610-01. When I went to computer records, I had to add the 0 as the sorting gave me fits. If the seedling reblooms, it becomes 2610-01Re. I may add things that represent lace or branching etc., but they are really for my own benefit--sometimes to remind me of the reasons I kept a given seedling.

Now that I'm getting very close to having seedlings to introduce, I want
to clean up my seedling ID system a bit to maybe make it more useful to
the rest of the world by adding year to the ID.

When giving a year number, do most people number for the year the seeds
were formed, the year the seedlings were planted, or (I assume not) the
year of maiden bloom?

Thanks.
