Also, is your garage dark most of the time?  Mine is totally dark
without windows. No light except when I open the door to get stuff out.

how about a good heavy mulch, Chris?  even of soil? Are you concerned about
the inch or two of fans? Do you plan to cut the foliage down?

Bruce, did you cut the foliage to soil level when you put the pots in the
garage?  I have a couple that will need to be in pots over the winter..
