Liquid acidifiers are temporary, and you would have to be spraying every few
days. Use something like ferrous sulfate to increase the acidity...which
also increases the iron in the soil, which many soils need. Ferrous sulfate
works best for increasing acidity for Japanese irises which need lots of

John Coble of Ensata Gardens said EXACTLY this yesterday at their talk before
the CIS Regional meeting in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He answered a question from the audience about whether iron sulfate can be
spread on established plantings that indeed, it can be broadcast along the
rows to be watered in by irrigation or by rain, and will last three years
in the soil.
