I have read about this iris but never seen it. It is an intermediate
rebloomer introduced by by Clint McDade in 1933...McDade was from Chatanooga,
Tennessee who was one of the early iris breeders working with reblooming
irises.
It is quite possible this iris is still around, and that is why I am
responding on the IRIS-L, since Larry Doucette, Lloyd Zurbrigg, Mike Lowe,
who are quite knowledgeable in these matters, might be able to assist you in
this.
I would also suggest joining the Historic Iris Preservation Society, which
entitles you to write a letter for publication in that Society's journal,
ROOTS, asking members to advise you if they have it. It would be a shame if
we cannot find it for the real Dorcus Hutchenson. Further, any fellow named
McMahon deserves everyone's support...that was my great grandfather's name
before he "Americanized" it to Mahan. Clarence, by that name, in northern
Virginia
