Glyphosphate which is the reagent in Round-Up goes to the roots and
kills them. Maybe that is why it affects phyizomes since they are
part of the roots in irises. It might depend on how much got on the
iris leaves how much effect it has on the rhizomes. The glyphospate
is metabolized so it disappears. If the rhizomes are not killed
entirely they will start to regrow but in the meanwhile, the iris
will look as if it's in trouble and may not be able to fight off
rot etc.
