Interesting! My society and Region 4 very much enjoyed hosting the 1991 AIS
convention in the Washington, D.C. area. The York,PA folks obviously enjoyed
hosting the AIS convention in 1995, because they have now requested to host
the 2001 convention! And the Memphis crew, who hosted a wonderful convention
a few years back, have now asked to host the 2002 convention. These must be
approved by the Board of Directors, but I foresee only happiness and avid
acceptance.
I am hopeful that Canada will come forward for 2003, or perhaps Illinois, but
the pressures are now on regions west of the Mississippi because we don't
want to have ALL the AIS conventions in the East after the year 2000! Or do
we? The AIS Board has always followed a "first come, first accepted" policy,
I believe. Act now...ask your region at their fall meeting to host a
convention in 2003, 2004 or 2005! That will give you plenty of time to
prepare....and it is fun! Clarence Mahan in VA
