Okay, just a few sentences about chemicals. I have gotten private
e-mail posts telling me:1) how big their bugs are 2) wait till I get my first
iris borer 3)can't grow flowers without chemicals, etc.
Just a thought re these posts private and public. Most people are
rightly concerned with how these chemicals might affect them and that is
only common sense and I applaud you for your safety measures.
What I don't see in these posts is mention of what these chemicals
do to the ecology i.e. groundwater, atmosphere, and anything else that
might be affected - helpful bugs, etc.
I know most if not all of us care about the environment - gardeners
do, we work with the land. Obviously, I am not a scientist just someone who
digs, plants, weeds and loves it. I grew up on a dairy farm and worked
planting and harvesting our crops (our garden fed us and my mother's flowers
enriched us)...all without chemicals...
Just my thoughts on a frosty morning in the mountains where we
still have dayliles blooming - not reblooming. :>)
