Re: Cygon (Humor)

borers out if you didn't use Cygon. And as I said, ALL chemicals should be
handled with caution and kept off the skin, and out of the breathing

I don't know any other way of getting control over the borer. Folks I know
who grow only iris, and probably don't do laundry, can pick them out of
the stalks, and fans, and be scrupulously clean and never be bothered and
walk away with ribbons! If I turn my back the day before the show, a borer
will eat the terminal bloom of the best branched stalk out there.

That's WITH cygon!

Dorothy Fingerhood -- do you use cygon? Do you also pick them out of the
stalks? How DO you handle borer?

What a dilemma -- horrid bindweed vs borer and rot... but I can get all
three here!!

This bindweed makes a spagetti bowl of roots to crowd things out and kill
All my neighbors have it and none of them seem to do anything about it.
One will just chop a hole in the middle of it and plant things. He has
shrubs that can't get a foothold, iris that won't bloom and have rot
(but are historic and determined!) and wonders why his borders won't
thrive!

For this I spray (oh, dear, another one) Roundup, which controls it for
a while, but not through the amount or length of rain we've been having.

Will Roundup work in Texas??
