An intro from Derald

We have grown some iris but not many and most have had there names
lost. We got most of our
iris from friends and family.
I plan to be much more seletive in my purchases and record keeping.
I do not know a lot about iris. Iris is not my main focus at this
time. But I like iris. I do not know
anything of value when it comes to iris --so if I Relurk --it's because
I am learning. If I think
I can help I'll beam right in with my response.

Begining of humor break................................................
I think of delurking more like decloaking instead from a closet but
from a Klingon Bird-of-Prey:
B'rel class (instead of the larger K'vort class). Yaj-A !

End of humor break....................................................

I would like to start a small nursery next year. Local area sales
and maybe by mail and net. It
will have to be a not visitable part-time nursery.
I am scounging glass and woodscapes to ideally build a greenhouse
but coldframes or hotbeds
might be the results I get.
I have found and old refrigerator to start stratifing some seeds. I
am looking for an old electric
stove to use the oven to sterilize soil -well those are my plans.

I live in Eagle Creek, Oregon, USDA Zone 6 (I think).
I enjoy Japanese art and culture.
I have interest in orchids, violets, fuschsas, wildflowers, vegie
gardening (square foot kind),
indoor bonsai, propagation of plants, breeding plants and
do-it-yourself equipment, mainly
because I can not afford to buy the tools I would like too and I'm not
that "handy" but I am
learning.
Lots of interest little time, experence and money.
I have slain over 8,000 slugs in the 7 years in Eagle Creek with
mostly my trusty trowl (Loosing
40 dahlas in a single season can push one very near an edge
[twitch]....)

I might have response to queries sent to me. I am happy to recieve
suggestions and I will likey
ask questions.
I hope this has been a good enough intro and response to a few
questions.

Another question: Recomemdation on some really good Iris catalogs.
Addresses and or
Websites?
Thank You.
