I am still 37 (10/28/58) my wife of 2 years is 30 and my daughter is 18
months so you could say I am getting a late start. I made my first iris cross at
around 13 years of age during my mom's "Iris period", I hope to infect my
daughter as well, it may be too late for my wife who grew up in a Townhouse.
Someone (perhaps Dennis Stoneburner) once refered to Schreiners Iris as
possible Baked Potatoes during famine, well I would also like to offer up
another famine entre' , I recieved some Louisianas from Bay View Gardens which
are close to 3 inches wide and twice as long - they look just like Lobster tails
with their stripes and all.
A question: the spuria iris I received appear to have been grown about 2
inches deep based on thats where the leaves change from white to green, do they
prefer to be buried ?, I have "streambed" soil which drains well. I have always
planted Louisianas deeper to help them stay moist but they seem to grow up to
the surface anyhows.
