I know your feeling about feeling "old" having just carried over 4,000 # of
dirt to the back of my yard. THAT was also for my new SIB bed! I've been
receiving my Sib orders for the past three weeks and have been potting them in
cow manure which I get from HomeQuarters. I'm already noticing some new growth.
Some of the leaves on the fans that were cut have already grown over 10". I
have all of my pots in a kidy wading pool with about a inch of water in the
bottom and I threw in a handfull of MirAcid.
Since I'm a little bit colder than you, you should notice significant
growth of your Sibs before the cold weather kills back the leaves - but not back
completely to the ground. I leave about five inches of dead leaves still
attached above the soil. This serves as my "marker" for locating where new
plants should be coming up in the spring.
I've also been dividing and replanting Sibs and intend to donate "lots"
(15-30 different varieties) for the AIS Region 4 Fall Meeting & Auction. If you
or anyone else wants info about our Fall Regional Meeting on the 11th & 12 of
Oct. please e-mail me. We offer 5 hours of Judges Training, and Terry Aitken is
our speaker! I think that I may have "lost" some of those requests earlier this
summer when I got unsubscribed from Iris-L. Hope you can make it up for the
meeting - you're only about 5 hours away!
BillSmoot - in cool Portsmouth, VA where it's all white with IMMORTALITY and LO
HO SILVER in bloom!
