Re: Age Distribution & Introduction
My husband is the Iris grower and I cruise the internet. He is 59
(05/23/37)and I am 48 (12/07/48). (There are several people with birthdays
close to mine.) We are new to growing Iris and grow only TB's at this time.
We have approximately 200 plants after this fall's dividing and replanting.
A couple of years ago we did some hybridizing and the first of our bibies
bloomed this spring. The results we very enjoyable. We live in the Monterey
Bay area of Californa, which is along the central California coast about 150
miles south of San Francisco. We have a problem with gophers eating the
rhizomes of the iris, so we have to plant the raised beds with chicken wire
across the bottom to protect them from the gophers. We live on a hill and my
husband is building a terraced retaining wall with planting beds along the
driveway and front of our property which is where we plant most of our iris.
Both of us have learned a lot from this list and enjoy the comments from
everyone.
