Linda, Sometimes HUBBARD does fairly well, other times it does not. Currier
McEwen believes it is susceptible to botrytis, and recommends spraying with
fungicide for that disease. But, with so many other good Siberians in the
same color class, I decided to oust it...and did so. In the wine "red"
category, I am very fond of KISMIT. And an excellent McEwen cultivar is
REDDY MAID. Of course, among the more recent ones there is SULTAN'S RUBY and
STRAWBERRY FAIR (but the latter has been a rather slow increaser for me to
date...however, anyone who saw it in the Silverberg garden at the Oregon
convention knows how lovely it can be.)
