RE: SpaceAgers

Suzette asks in an earlier e-mail:

>Is there anybody here who deals with space-agers?

Actually SA are also a favorite of mine. Two local sources for SpageAge irises
are in your backyard. Joan Roberts of Friendship Gardens offers several
SpaceAgers in her catalog. Most are by the late Monty Byers. She also
introduces irises for Lloyd Zurbrigg and sells two of his that I'm sure you'll
enjoy.
TRUMPET CONCERTO is one of my favorites. It's light blue and has light
blue flounces in the shape of trumpets, plus a white beard for contrast.
It "heralds" in the spring bloom of Space Agers for me!

MARGARET HELEN is a newer Zurbrigg introduction (1995) that is a
blue-violet self with spoons the same color. It is contrasted with a blue
beard that has yellow on the tips. I bought it last year and it bloomed
for
me the first time this year. It also has a newer form.

Both are available from Friendship Gardens, 2590 Wellworth Way, West
Friendship, MD 21794 (410) 442-1197. Catalog $1.00

Dianna Nichols also offers some SpaceAgers for sale. Her address is:
NICHOLLS GARDENS, 4724 Angus Drive, Gainsville, VA 22065 She also has a
web page at: http://www.he.net/~ngardens/

Another source for SpaceAgers is Lynda Miller aat 3167 E. U.S. 224, Ossian,
IN 46777. Although Lynda is well know for her medians, she likes SpaceAgers and
lists quite a few in her catalog which also is. $1.00.

If you come to the AIS Region 4 Fall Meeting, 11 & 12 October, in Suffolk,
VA. I plan to donate a "SpaceAger/Novelty" Starter Package for the auction -
consisting probably of: Trumpet Concerto, Flounced Premier, Impersonator,
Hegar's Helmet, Lurid, Thornbird, Margaret Helen, Godsend. Don't hold me to
this list, but I'll donate anything that I have enough to separate!

Warm Regards,
