Which heredity yields the summer dormancy? Those are the iris that seem to
do the best for me - VANITY being a good example. They look terrible during
the heat and drought of summer, lose nearly all their foliage (sometimes do
lose it all) then start growing in the fall when it cools a little and
moisture becomes more uniform (about now). Some will even root prune,
leaving nothing but the rhizome.
