MDB Cold Pack


I just planed by first MDB, "Dark Crystal."  My understanding is that the 
miniatures don't bloom too well unless they get a good winter freeze.  Since 
the weather is warm here in sunny San Jose CA (rarely gets below freezing in 
winter), I plan to spread ice over the plants each night for about a week in 
the winter.  Is this enough to encourage bloom?  Just wanted to know your 
experience and recommendations.  John.
