I am very much attracted to Space Agers. We grow about 30 of them and I try
to add new ones every year. It is my experience that people either like them
or detest them. One of the main complaints I hear is that one flower may
have hsf and the next won't. Sometimes it even varies from flower to flower.
As I tend to be excited by the unusual, Space Agers, Broken Color patterns,
wild Plicatas, and Rebloomers, many of the local people come by here to see
these things. The above complaint seems to carry through for everything.
Until we can nail down the characteristics that cause these "oddities" so
that all of SA XXX has 1" purple horns and REB YYY reblooms each and every
year there will be nay sayers.
Personally I am glad to be here to watch it all happen. Thank God for
diversity. It wouldn't be much fun at all if all iris were huge purple and
ruffled.
