I cannot refrain from putting in my opinion about rot.
Many TB introductions are quite unsuited to most gardens in the East. This
judgment is based on over forty years of experience, which began in Ontario,
Canada. The plants which have too much I. mesopotamica in their make-up
cannot livein summers that are hot and wet. Southern blight, erwinia, is one
pathogen that knocks them for a loop , -e.g. Atlanta Convention, and it
thrives in hot, wet weather. These introductions have NOT BEEN TESTED in
hot-wet summers, and the hybridizer thus cannot warn us. I still buy new
iris each year, and I have adopted Sterling's attitude. But I have
become much more adept at predicting which introductions will not succeed
here, by checking their parentages!!! LLOYDZ 88 KEYS.
