Yes, beneficial for at least two reasons - organic matter spiked with
nutrients. The only reason I use it is because there is a factory 5 or so
miles from my house where a truck load costs $10. They have it in three
forms, depending on demand and time of day - dry (unused), wet (freshly
used), and aged (wet stuff stacked outside when demand is low). The wet sets
up like concrete. I don't know details of nutrient amendments, and don't
know how nutrients and pH change as the compost moves through these stages.
Demand is fierce during spring garden season - not surprising it costs a
bundle elsewhere. I called in late April to see how long the lines were and
they said they were filling trucks by appointment only and the next available
spot was late June, at least for the new stuff. I got my first (and last)
load of wet 'brick making material' this year. They run the aged stuff
through a crusher (fortunately).

Fascinating operation - we get to drive through the huge stacked rows of
fermenting straw on the way to the loading yard, threading the little pickup
amongst the giant shovers and scrapers on wheels.

<One another note, I just dug and scooped about 5 rotten TB's>

Donald, which were they? (another data point)
