Have you tried Roundup on a sponge [the kind you put dishwasher
soap in the top]? Hold the weed in a gloved hand, sponge the weed
carefully avoiding the iris. It is very safe to humans and is
totally safe if applied to soil. You can plant within 1/2 hr of
soil application.
