Re Colleen's Zone in Australia
From: Jelcy <jelcy@eclipse.sigint.com>
Hi Colleen,
In the mid 70's I first lived in Sydney which I compared to Houston
weather and then I lived in Melbourne for a while and compared the
climate there to that of Tulsa, Oklahoma where I had also once lived.
Tulsa is Zone 7. I used to go to Adelaide and the beautiful Barossa
Valley on business and I recall the weather being quite similar to Melbourne's.
The following website can let you establish whether you really are in
Zone 7 based upon what they say is appropriate for U. S. climes. I used
the ZIP code of 74114, my sister's, as she lives in Tulsa now. I live in
a climate that is warmer and drier than hers, in a Dallas suburb. My
zip is 75089 if you wish to compare. The zip code I had when I lived in
Houston was 77025 for comparison's sake to Sydney and Heather's climate.
If there are members on Iris-Talk from the Wichita and Kansas City
areas, please send your zip to Colleen to see if that helps her. All of
us in this area are not that different from her; we just get a bit less
rain than she does and are either a bit warmer or colder than she. She
lives in one of the most lovely areas of all Australia and I had the
great fortune of traveling/working throughout all of Australia save the
Kimberly and Darwin areas.
