Cult: Shaving problem

From: Gardenhous@aol.com

I have trimmed and or also shaved my rzs before planting as I determined
these roots only died and new growth then occured to support the rz. However
i have had to plant deeper than those with roots to anchor the rz in place
and what I now am noticing is that I have some crown rot. i have scraped
back the earth from the stems to the top of rz and they are doing okay now.
I think the only thing to kill an iris rz is rot. With care I planted about
1000 rzs this summer. Now I also notice taht some errant iris are popping up
where old mothers were tossed aside or plowed under or any rz that didn't
look so healthy was toosed aside. So Perhaps I should just toss them on the
ground, shaved and see what happens. What do you think Mr. Moores???
