Re: Heidi Gildemeister's Australian visit

Heidi has just flown out of Adelaide bound for Melbourne where she will continue her promotion of the MGS and of the need for the formation of local branches. A meeting held on April 6 at Urrbrae House, the staff club of the Waite Instutute (for agricultural research) of the University of Adelaide. At the conclusion of a very congenial meeting hosted by Dr Jennifer Gardener (Snr Botanist) it was decided to form a local branch of the MGS. The MGS (South Australian branch) will be coordinated by Kerry Griffin Moore, a landscape design student, assisted by a small team of volunteers. A hat was passed around for doantions to help with start-up costs and an attendance list circulated to record those present - more than 20 people.

At a lecture meeting the next night attended by 113 people there was much interest in Heidi's beautifully illustrated talk, and in membership of the society. We seem to be off to a flying start. Kerry plans a meeting soon to settle on a short agenda for the remainder of 2000, probably two meetings - a lecture and a garden visit. Contact Kerry at <rosemoore@senet.com.au> for more details.
