Kurt sounds like Hieracium maculatum... also goes by the common name of 
Hawkweed.I grow it in full-part sun with regular water. Good at the edge of 
the border. I have heard it is considered weedy and self-seeds rampantly, 
however it is quite mannerly in my garden and I enjoy the basel leaves more 
than the flowers!
