I once saw a similar gum here persuaded to keep its immature foliage
outdoors by regular coppicing.

And though I haven't seem Eucalypts grown as indoor plants here, there
was a fashion in NZ at one time for growing seedlings of Grevillea
robusta in pots to provide nice feathery background foliage. These were
apparently treated as throw-away plants and discarded after a couple of
years or so. They now seem to have fallen out of favour.

Incidently, though this Grevillea is grown in gardens in the warmer
parts of the district,it never looks really happy, because it
definitely  isn't as warm as it likes.

The poor spindly local specimens compare badly with the soaring forty or
fifty footers of our African farm and I always feel a bit sorry for
them..
