Title: RE: Cattails
Give the spike to an 8 year old boy to whack against trees & fences and to use as a sword, and you will have cattail seedlings in every wet spot on your block before you know it.

I was at the city pond today admiring the mallards, evil geese (one
hissed
at me when i walked by) grebes and other birds when i spotted the seed
head of a cattail. So, i snapped it off, and now have seeds. I was
wondering, how do i grow the seeds to get plants? I have a pot that
would
be a good container for it (no hole of course). Anything special? Just
put
the seeds in some wet sand and let 'em grow (the city pond has a sandy
bottom)?
