RE: Re(2): nice quotes

Barry - I invite you, this instant because in a week or two they will be
gone, to come to Lancaster. Step around the locals out to marvel, the
busloads of tourists, and step into the poppy fields. Like two old dears I
spotted a couple of years ago, bring a hat, a fold-up chair, and a picnic
basket and walk out into the fields, sit down and just breathe. On your way
home, stop in Gorman and look up the mountain at the lupines.

well, the point of the quote is that most Californians overlook the fields
of wildflowers, and look to the exotics from europe, while European
gardens have many of our natives, clarkias, phacelias, eschcholtzias (one
of the few native wildflowers i've seen grown extensively), and mariposa
lillies. But, you do have a point.
