I feel I must just add to the comments of Barbara and others.
Charles, it is OK for you to say "if you don't want it, just delete it"
- but one can only delete a message (and attachments if any) AFTER
downloading it! It is the downloading that most people are objecting to!
This is what takes the time, and time matters to to those of us who pay
for our on-line time "by the minute". A few batches of photos can cost
us money - which some of us find a problem.
There is no need to deprive anyone. As others have already said, there
are plenty of alternatives. One List we belong to suggests that people
with photos advise this fact on the List, and then send the photos
privately to those people who request them. This takes a little longer
than just sending them wholesale, but it means that the people who
really want to see them do, while those who don't want them are spared
the unwanted download.
