The problem with Palms is that unlike things like Pines, or Maples, they
lack the tissue that creates secondary thickening. I´m sure the palm will
heal, but i dont think any tissue will fill in to replace what was
damaged. If you´ve seen a damaged palm, it´s pretty evident in the trunk
(problems easily show in the trunk, nutritional deficiencies can show up
as a pinching, cold damage can show up as sunken spots or a horrible
looking scar). I´d make sure to watch for signs of rot, fungal infection
or insect entry though.
