Yes, they are in fact. They're just starting to put on a show. Places I
hadn't noticed lupines perviously are showing masses of flowers. There's a
kind of backroad I use to get to my University which from a distance looks
like some sort of strange blue plant, but those familiar know that these
are large drifts of Lupine. It's fantastic that both Sky Lupine and
California poppies grow about as prolifically as most weeds. 

I think Sky Lupine and California poppies are the signature native plant
combination in Spring in California.
