Fellow Medit-Plants folks in the Mediterranean -
The is a group of people interested in establishing a Mediterranean Garden Society (MGS) Branch centered on the island of Mallorca. I have just become aware of a first meeting being organized (see item below). This Branch would be open to people who live on Mallorca full or part time, or even those who are interested in this Mediterranean isle and possibly visit it with some frequency. For more information, contact the organizer mentioned in the meeting announcement:
15th - 16th April 2003
First get together for the branch will take place on Mallorca.
The subjects under review will be the damage caused by the hurricane of November 2001 and the different beetles pests affecting the pine trees. Giving advice will be Senor Oriol, Conselleria de Medio Ambiente, Palma and Senor Parilla, of Will Kill, Palma. For information contact Signe Groos (gruengroos@muenchen.org).
The MGS continues to grow internationally and is one of the most interesting horticultural Societies I've ever been involved with for that reason. In my own California, there are now 3 Branches, but we all see potential for even more!
Regards,
Seán O.
